Peewee Rules

Peewee House League Rules

These rules were established in keeping with the philosophy of the Association that the principal aim for Peewee baseball is to have fun and teach good sportsmanship, as well as try to further the basic skills of baseball.

Basic Baseball Ontario (B.O.) regulations will be followed, with the following exceptions/clarifications:

  • All players are to receive equal playing time. All players are to be entered into the batting order.
  • Unlimited substitution for defense play, except for pitcher and catche
  • Any person warming up the pitcher must wear a catcher’s mask.
  • Game time (duration) to be determined by the home (host) centre. In Simcoe, no new inning to start after 1hr 20 mins.
  • A pitcher may only pitch a maximum of 9 outs per game. If the 9th out is in the middle of an inning he/she may complete that inning. Once the pitcher is removed, he/she may not pitch again that game or catch.
  • Infield fly rule DOES apply.
  • Five (5) runs, or 3 outs per inning.
  • NO SMOKING, coaches must refrain from smoking during the game.
  • No Jewellery (except medical alert).
  • No new inning to start after 1 hrs 30 mins. or 7 complete innings.
  • Umpires decisions are final.
  • Affiliates (Mosquito call ups) may play (only if your team is not playing at the same time) for one team and only if that team has less than 9 players. Affiliate may play any position except pitcher.

Peewee Tournament Rules

  • Umpires decisions are final.
  • Coin Toss to decide home team. Home team to provide an adult scorekeeper.
  • 11 run mercy rule in effect after 5 complete innings.
  • Each team is guaranteed 4 games.
  • Top 2 teams advance - OBA rules used set semi-final matches (avoid previous match ups when possible).

The formula to determine the top 4 teams is as follows:

  • Total points - 2 points for a win; 1 point for a tie; 0 points for a loss
  • Head to head( if played equally)
  • Total runs for / number of offensive innings minus
  • Total runs against / number of defensive innings
  • Run differential as a percent - ie. runs for / runs for + runs against
  • Run differential - ie. runs for minus runs against
  • Number of offensive batters minus number of defensive batters

Game Notes
If you are the home (last) team to play on a diamond, it is that team’s responsibility to put away the bases and any other equipment left out on the field.

If your game is cancelled due to rain or other reasons, it is also the HOME team’s responsibility to attend to the ball park to ensure that nothing is left out on the field.
